Stories of Prague Jewish ghetto Josefov and their residents were directly reliant to approval and favor of monarch to reign. Many times they were full of wrongs and discrimination. Besides pogroms, epidemics, WWII, it also was period of development and prosperity. In these days Josefov as a part of Old Town belongs among the most lucrative Prague quarters. Former ghetto offers unusual combination of gothic, renaissance, baroque and Art Nouveau architecture. The most notable is Old-New Synagogue from 13th century, Old Jewish Cemetery / Židovský hřbitov so-called “ Garden of the dead”, Maisel Synagogue / Maiselova synagoga, Pinkas Synagogue / Pinkasova synagoga, Klausen Synagogue / Klausova synagoga and Spanish Synagogue / Španělská synagoga, and Ceremonial Hall of Funeral Brotherhood / Obřadní síň pohřebního bratrstva. Intercontinental hotel was built during communist regime and Paris Street, which should resemble Champs Elyseé Boulevard.
