Lesser Town

The second oldest Prague settlement granted a town status by the king Přemysl Otakar II in 1257. The Lesser Town Square / Malostranské náměstí is the soul of Lesser Town with its baroque St.Nicolas Church and Nerudova Street with baroque houses decorated with house insignia. There are charming out of the way streets with shops, coffee houses, renaissance and baroque palaces, which currently are the embassy residences.

Originally it was a shanty Prague quarter, today a popular and loved quarter by the artists for its potential to inspire and give authentic atmosphere.

Sights to see: Lesser Town Square, St. Nicolas church, Nerudova Street, Jánský Vršek street, Lennon Wall, Infant Jesus of Prague / pražské Jezulátko in Church of Our Lady beneath the Chain / kostel Panny Marie pod řetezem, Kampa Island, Prague Venice and Charles Bridge / Karlův Most. Admission in the St. Nicolas Church: CZK 100 a person. Difficulty level: moderate.
